Lifelong Schenectady County resident Kevin Burke has been backed by the Schenectady County Democratic Committee in his bid to be a Family Court judge, according to a news release.
He is currently the chief prosecutor of abuse and neglect cases for the Schenectady County Department of Social Services and is running for the seat on the court that was opened up by Christine Clark’s election to the state Supreme Court.
“I am thankful for the overwhelming support of the Schenectady County Democratic Committee and their confidence in my ability to serve as Family Court judge,” Burke said in a news release. “I am running for this office because I am passionate about our Family Court system and I know the positive impact it can have on our community. I want to promote in our community a faith in a system of fairness.”
In the news release Burke touted his knowledge of family law and history of intervening in situations where children were at risk. His prior work experience included representing parents in custody and divorce cases.
“I look forward to taking this campaign door to door and to every neighborhood in Schenectady County,” Burke said.
