A Wilton teen was accused of threatening in a Facebook post to come to Saratoga Springs High School and shoot and kill teachers and classmates.
Alan R. Pickett, 17, of 21 Nicklaus Drive, was charged with making a terroristic threat, a class D felony, according to a Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office press release.
Deputies said Pickett posted on Facebook that “Guns should be brought to the Saratoga Springs High School and underclassmen and teachers should be shot.”
Saratoga County District Attorney James A. Murphy III said authorities were notified about the post by an unidentified person.
It's not clear yet whether Pickett or his parents own any guns, Murphy said. However, under state law, a person can still be guilty of making a terroristic threat even if they did not have the intent or capability of following through
Pickett was arraigned in Wilton Town Court and released on bail, pending another court appearance. Murphy said an order of protection has been issued, preventing Pickett from coming to the high school or attending school events, including his graduation.
Murphy said he will also request a psychiatric evaluation.
