Bayport-Blue Point scored all of its runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and beat Queensbury, 4-0

Bayport-Blue Point scored all of its runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and beat Queensbury, 4-0, in a state Class A semifinal baseball game Saturday at NYSEG Stadium in Binghamton.

Queensbury finished 20-6 with its first semifinal loss after three previous trips to the state final four ended with championship-game defeats.

Queenbury threatened in the top of the sixth when Zack Parsons hit a two-out single and Charlie Peltz doubled him to third. Phil Wettersten flew out, and the state’s No. 1-ranked team broke up Peltz’s shutout in the bottom half.

Bayport-Blue Point’s sixth included an RBI single by Chris Brewer, an RBI squeeze bunt by Alex Dura, and P.J. Weeks’ two-out, two-run single.

Parsons went 2-for-3. Bayport-Blue Point pitcher Jack Piekos scattered five hits and struck out nine.

Bayport-Blue Point (Section XI, 27-0) went on to beat Williamsville South (Section VI, 19-3) for the championship, 5-3.

Voorheesville (19-8) lost to Geneseo, 2-1, in a Class C semifinal at Broome Community College. The Blackbirds also saw their 2012 season end in the state semifinal round.

Seton Catholic (Section IV, 19-4) beat Geneseo (Section V, 21-4) in the Class C title game, 9-0.

Fort Ann secured its fourth state Class D championship by beating Pine Valley, 4-0, and Hancock, 14-0, at Conlon Field.

Joe Foran struck out nine over five innings, hit two doubles, scored five runs and drove in four against Hancock (Section IV, 19-6). Chris Jackson went 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI, and George Lehoisky went 4-for-4 with four runs and four RBI.

Lehoisky hurled a one-hitter and singled a run home against Pine Valley (VI, 16-6).

Fort Ann (22-2) won its other titles in 1989, 1993 and 2010. Fort Ann outscored its last four opponents, 47-0, during this year’s title run.

Fort Ann also won the boys’ state basketball championship, and won the state softball title earlier Saturday.
