Starting this Friday, the Clinton Avenue off-ramp (Exit 4B) from I-787 in downtown Albany will close to traffic, the state Department of Transportation announced.
The exit ramp will close at 6 p.m. that evening and will remain closed through September to allow crews to rehabilitate the ramp as part of the ongoing $21 million, I-787 rehabilitation project.
A signed detour route will direct traffic to Exit 4A (Colonie Street), then right onto Columbia Street to Broadway. Drivers may also use Exit 3B (Madison Avenue) to access downtown.
DOT officials said the ramp closure is expected to affect traffic, and motorists should use alternate routes when possible or allow for additional travel time to reach downtown Albany.
