Gov. Andrew Cuomo has signed a measure to name an upstate road after the late Grammy-winning drummer

ALBANY — Gov. Andrew Cuomo has signed a measure to name an upstate road after the late Grammy-winning drummer and singer Levon Helm.

The legislation designates a 3-mile stretch of Route 375 from Hurley to Woodstock "Levon Helm Memorial Boulevard." Helm lived in Woodstock and that's where he hosted his "Midnight Ramble" concerts.

Helm died in April 2012 of throat cancer.

Helm gained fame in the 1960s and 1970s as drummer and singer in The Band.
