Schenectady to swear in 3 police recruits

Three new Schenectady city police recruits are to be sworn in Monday, officials said.

Three new city police recruits are to be sworn in Monday, officials said.

The officers will then enter the Zone 5 Law Enforcement Training Academy for six months of basic training. The training is to be followed by 12 weeks of department field training.

The new officers are:

* Patrick A. Irwin, 26, of Schenectady, a graduate of Avon Old Farms High School. He attended Union College and holds a degree in history.

* Patrick J. Verret, 29, of Schenectady, who was home- schooled through high school and later attended the University at Albany and transferred to Schenectady County Community College, where he received a degree in criminal justice.

* Kyle D. Willetts, 24, of Schenectady, a 2006 graduate of Lansingburgh High School. He attended Norwich University in Vermont and holds a degree in criminal justice.
