AMSTERDAM — Dylan Smith’s RBI single in the bottom of the 11th inning gave the Amsterdam Mohawks a 5-4 victory over the Albany Dutchmen in the first game of a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League double-header Thursday at Shuttleworth Park.

The Dutchmen came back to win the second game, 4-3. The two teams have played five games this season, and all five have been decided by one run.

The first game was the completion of a game that was suspended Friday because of rain. It began in the top of the 10th with the score tied at 4-4. After Mike Urbanski held the Dutchmen scoreless in the 10th and 11th innings, Jordan Ebert singled in the bottom of the 11th, went to third on a steal and a throwing effor, and came in on Smith’s hit to left.

In the nightcap, Albany rallied for three runs in the eighth inning to get the victory.

Dylan Dwyer and Christian Bartolomew of Amsterdam held the Dutchmen to two hits through seven innings, but the Dutchmen got to Urbanski in the eighth.

After a hit batsman and singles by Anthony Marks and Brad Noland, Zach Remillard lofted a sacrifice fly to cut Amsterdam’s lead to 3-2.

Matt Dacey followed with a two-run single to left to give Albany (15-10) the victory, and a 4-1 lead in the series between the two teams.

John Nogowski had a solo home run and an RBI single in the second game for the Mohawks (16-14).

Andrew Bannon (Skidmore College) recorded his first win with three strong innings of relief for the Dutchmen.
