A World War II hand grenade was removed from a town of Ballston residence Monday.
The explosive device was found in the basement of 53 Middle Line Road while the homeowner was cleaning the area, Ballston Spa police Sgt. Brent Dupras said. Upon its discovery, authorities were called.
Sheriff’s deputies secured the area while the New York State Police Explosives Unit responded.
The device — a live World War II-era Mark II grenade — was secured by the explosives unit.
