Troy music hall’s 34th season to feature Cash, Ritter, Kidjo

Pop-rock singer-songwriter Josh Ritter, country music royalty Rosanne Cash and African singer Angelique Kidjo are all part of the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall’s 34th season, announced on Wednesday.

Ritter, a familiar face to audiences in the Hall, kicks the season off on Thursday, Sept. 26. So far the Hall has announced 16 shows through May, with bluegrass trio Red Molly closing out the season on Friday, May 16.

Cash, the daughter of seminal country and rock singer Johnny Cash, will perform a benefit for CARES Inc. and the Capital Region Coalition to End Homelessness on Thursday, Dec. 19. Kidjo, who performed at the Hall in 2010, returns on Thursday, Feb. 20.

Other highlights include jazz saxophonist and three-time Grammy nominee Boney James on Friday, Oct. 25; former “Saturday Night Live” comedian Jim Breuer on Friday, Nov. 15; Irish fiddler Eileen Ivers’ Christmas show “An Nollaig: An Irish Christmas” on Saturday, Nov. 30; guitarist supergroup Great Guitars, featuring Martin Taylor, Frank Vignola, Vinnie Raniolo and Peppino D’Agostino, on Saturday, April 19; and the long-running Glenn Miller Orchestra on Thursday, May 8.

“This season is going to be great. I see our concert series as a work of art,” said Music Hall executive director Jon Elbaum in a press release. “One of the best things about my job is figuring out how all the pieces fit together to make a beautiful picture. A little jazz here, a splash of comedy there. Add some classical designs then something for the whole family and — voila! There are so many shows I’m really looking forward to — Josh Ritter, Boney James, Rosanne Cash, the Johnny Clegg Band, of course the immortal Glenn Miller Orchestra.”

Tickets are on sale now to members of the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, and will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, July 24, at 10 a.m. A full schedule of events with ticket prices follows. Call 273-0038 or visit www.troymusichall.org for more information.
