Eric Green, 18, of Albany pleaded guilty in Albany County Court this morning to attempted murder of a New York State Trooper, according to District Attorney P. David Soares.

On March 3, Green tried to kill a uniformed on-duty state trooper by stabbing him with a knife, authorities said. The incident happened in the area of the Empire State Plaza on Madison Avenue and Eagle Street in Albany. The officer survived, but required emergency medical attention.

Green pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree attempted murder and one count of first-degree robbery.

He could face up to 30 years in state prison, to be followed by 5 years of post release supervision. He will be sentenced on Aug. 16.
