Jon Kemmer went 2-for-3, including his third home run of the season, to help the Tri-City ValleyCats defeat the Hudson Valley Renegades, 4-3, in a New York-Penn League game Monday night at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.
The game was delayed by rain for more than an hour in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Tri-City took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. With two outs, Kemmer belted a two-run homer to right field, scoring Ryan Dineen, who walked.
Hudson Valley cut its deficit to a run in the top of the third when Julian Ridings singled and scored on Tyler Young’s double.
The ValleyCats added two more runs in the fifth. James Ramsey singled and scored on Michael Martinez’s double. Martinez scored on a wild pitch by Colton Reavis.
The Renegades scored two runs in the sixth inning on an RBI double by John Alexander and a groundout by Granden Goetzman.
Tanner Bushue improved to 3-1 and lowered his ERA to 2.56 for the ValleyCats, who improved to 24-11. Richard Rodriguez picked up his first save.
Young had two hits for the Renegades.
