ValleyCats' rally comes up short

Tri-City scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning, but saw its rally fall short as the ValleyCats dropped a 4-3 decision to the Hudson Valley Renegades Tuesday night in a New York-Penn League game at Dutchess Stadium.

James Ramsay’s single to center scored Thomas Lindauer and Ryan Dineen in the ninth, but Renegades reliever Justin Choate got Conrad Gregor to ground out, ending the game.

The Renegades had taken a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the eighth off Tri-City reliever Patrick Christensen, who gave up singles to Johnny Field and Darryl George and a walk to Tyler Young to load the bases with one out. Omar Narvaez then lined a two-run single to right field.

Tri-City scored its other run in the top of the eighth on a double by Anthony Kemp and an RBI single by Gregor.

The teams will play Game 2 of their three-game series tonight at 7:05.
