A Niskayuna man seriously injured in a car accident earlier this month has died, police said today.
Herbert Hudes, 67, of Oakmont Street, died Tuesday of injuries suffered in the July 15 accident on Balltown Road at Morrow Avenue, police said.
The accident happened as Hudes’ vehicle crossed over into the southbound lane around 1:15 p.m., striking a car driven by 23-year-old Amanda Nasters of Burnt Hills.
Both drivers suffered serious injuries, Nasters had to be extricated from her vehicle and flown to Albany Medical Center by helicopter.
The crash was determined to be caused by a medical event Hudes suffered, police said. He was not wearing a seat belt. The crash itself was determined to be a contributing factor in his death, police said.
Balltown Road was shut down for about four hours as the crash was investigated. Schenectady police and Niskayuna Fire District One assisted in the investigation.
