Scotia police are investigating a pellet gun shooting spree Thursday afternoon that injured three people, two of them children.
The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. on the playground of the YMCA’s Lally Early Learning Center on South Ten Broeck Street. A 22-year-old female staffer told officers she was shot twice in the lower body, and that a 9-year-old boy was struck twice in the right leg and a 6-year-old boy was hit once in the neck. All three suffered only bruises.
Police do not know where the shots came from or who fired them. They asked anyone with information to call 384-2244.
“We are taking this incident very seriously as this reckless act could have had tragic consequences,” village police Chief Pete Frisoni said Friday. “BB guns can cause serious, even fatal, injuries. We are working diligently to identify and arrest whoever committed this crime.”
