Construction workers on the Hudson River found the body of a missing 24-year-old Waterford woman floating near the Green Island Power Authority this morning.

Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple said Anna Kroup’s body was located by a crew from C.D. Perry Construction Company. She was later identified by investigators from the Waterford Police Department who recognized a tattoo on her body.

Kroup was last seen at her Second Street residence in mid-February. Waterford police indicated she left behind a note, but didn’t discuss its contents publicly.

State police divers took to the Hudson in March and employed sonar technology in an effort to locate her body. But the search didn’t yield any results.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday morning at the Albany Medical Center Hospital. Apple said an investigation into Kroup's death is ongoing.
