A nine-year-old Albany boy is in critical condition after he was found in cardiac arrest in a hotel pool.
On Saturday evening, police were called to The Homewood Suites for what they termed a swimming accident.
They said older children in the pool saw that the 9-year-old was in distress. Those children got him out of the pool and called for help. Police performed CPR and he was rushed to Albany Medical Center Hospital, where he is still listed in critical condition two days later.
Police said they are investigating and have interviewed the adults who were supposed to be supervising the children in the pool.
They said adults told them they had last seen the boy in the shallow end. It wasn’t clear where the boy was when the other children rescued him.
The boy was at the hotel to celebrate an acquaintance’s birthday, police said.
