Steven Ramos tripled and scored in the eighth inning Wednesday, helping the State College Spikes beat the Tri-City ValleyCats, 7-4, in a New York-Penn League game.
After the ValleyCats took a 4-3 lead in the top of the sixth inning, the Spikes got two runs in both the seventh and eight innings to hand the ValleyCats their sixth straight loss.
Madison Katz walked with the bases loaded, and Luis Perez followed with a sacrifice fly to put the Spikes ahead, 5-4, in the seventh,
Ramos tripled after Matthew Young doubled in the eighth, and Cesar Valera drove in Ramos for the final score.
Tri-City fell behind, 1-0, in the first inning, tied the game in the second on an unearned run, then surrendered two runs in the bottom of the second.
The 26-18 ValleyCats got a run back in the third on a Michael Martinez sacrifice fly, and Jake Rodriguez singled in two runs in the sixth to put the ’Cats up, 4-3.
