Marvin and Company adds seven to staff

ALBANY— Marvin and Company, P.C. and accounting, auditing, taxation and management consulting firm, has added seven new hires to its team.

Margaret Hurlburt, CPA, has spent the past 13 years at two regional CPA firms. The Fort Edward resident joins the Queensbury office at the in-charge/supervisor level.

Katrina Tierney joins the audit department, having recently been employed since 2009 as an audit senior accountant at a firm in Burlington, Vt. The Saratoga resident earned her undergraduate degree in accounting/finance from St. Michael’s College in Colchester, Vt., and spent one semester studying abroad at the University of Melbourne in Australia. She is currently working toward her CPA.

Christopher Healy joins the audit department. The Walworth native is a 2013 graduate of The College of St. Rose with an undergraduate degree in business administration and a master’s degree in accounting.

Joshua Mabee is a recent graduate of Le Moyne College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting as well as a master’s degree in business administration. The Clifton Park resident was a member of the Accounting Society (Beta Alpha Psi) and joins the audit department.

Thomas Piraino, an intern at Marvin and Company last tax season, earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees in accounting from Siena College in May. Piraino, a resident of East Greenbush, joins the audit department.

Mark Quackenbush, of Fort Edward, joins Marvin and Company as an auditor, having earned an associate’s degree in business administration from SUNY Adirondack and his bachelor’s degree in accounting from SUNY Oswego in 2013.

Nicholas Rhoades is a 2013 graduate of The College of St. Rose with an undergraduate degree in business administration and a master’s degree in accounting. The Ballston Lake resident joins the audit department.

Lawyer earns top rating of magazine

ALBANY — Fortune Magazine, in conjunction with ALM, an integrated media company, has named Michael J. Murphy a 2013 Top-Rated Lawyer in labor and employment law.

Murphy’s designation as a Top-Rated Lawyer will be included in a special edition of Fortune Magazine, as well as in the Annual Guide to Labor & Employment Law published by Corporate Counsel, The National Law Journal and The American Lawyer.

Murphy is a partner at Carter Conboy in Albany. He is a trial attorney handling litigation with an emphasis on employment law. He maintains an active trial practice in state and federal courts as well as before the EEOC and the New York State Division for Human Rights. Murphy is a member of the Rules Committee for the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York. He has served as chairman of merit selection and recertification panels for United States magistrate judges. He is currently chairman of ALFA International and past president of the Northern District of New York Federal Court Bar Association.

TrustCo taps new executive VP

GLENVILLE — TrustCo Bank Corp NY has announced the appointment of Robert M. Leonard to executive vice president.

Leonard has been employed with Trustco Bank for 27 years in various positions, most recently as senior vice president and corporate secretary.

Leonard is a 1986 graduate of Niagara University with a B.S. in business. He is active in a number of community organizations and is a member of the boards of the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, the St. Peter’s Hospital Foundation and the Irish American Heritage Museum.

Leonard resides in Niskayuna with his family.

Ellis picks head for Magnet Program

SCHENECTADY —– Ellis Medicine has appointed Laura Dogias as its Magnet Program director.

She will lead Ellis’ Magnet journey to be a nationally recognized health system by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

Previously, Dogias worked as a nurse navigator in the Women’s Heart Program at the Neil and Jane Golub Breast & Heart Health Center at Ellis’ Bellevue Woman’s Center. In her new role, Dogias will oversee Ellis’ application to be a Magnet Recognized Hospital.

She is a master’s-prepared nurse with 11 years of experience in multiple clinical areas including cardiology and nursing leadership.

EP&M grows its marketing team

ALBANY — EP&M International, an exhibit design and project management firm, has announced it has expanded its marketing team with two new hires and a re-assignment.

• Rob White has joined the EP&M International team as business development manager. He has more than 15 years of sales and marketing experience in consumer products and most recently held the position of director of marketing at Protective Industrial Products in Albany, where he was responsible for five business divisions, as well as overseeing the activities of more than 100 trade shows per year. White attended Siena College and received his MBA from the University at Albany. In his new role, he will be responsible for building EP&M’s local and international market reputation, as well as expanding the firm’s sales of interactive multimedia displays and corporate environment design and installation services.

• Amber Walley, marketing coordinator, will be assisting in activities to increase brand recognition globally, developing marketing strategy and maintaining the customer relationship management database. Previously, Walley interned at the Times Union Center and was an integral part of that facility’s first-ever wedding show. She is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University with a bachelor’s degree in sport, entertainment and event management.

• Deb Flack, who has been with the firm as a project manager since 2009, assumes the duties of marketing director. In this role, Flack will lead strategic marketing activities to expand all product lines, including custom exhibits, portable sales and rentals, traveling exhibits, corporate events, and other duties.

Pioneer Bank promotes official

TROY — Pioneer Bank has promoted Frank Sarratori to executive vice president and chief administrative officer.

Sarratori’s new responsibilities include general oversight of the bank’s retail information systems while retaining his previous duties as general counsel and facilities management. Sarratori has been with the bank for nine years and most recently worked closely on the launch of the bank’s newest branch, Clifton Park East.

Karl Johnson has moved into a newly created position as senior vice president and chief innovation officer to match his new responsibilities. He was previously senior vice president and chief retail officer. Johnson has been with Pioneer Bank for eight years and most recently oversaw the bank’s retail segment. In his new role, Johnson will be responsible for delivering innovative banking solutions.
