Two Mayfield brothers were arrested today on federal charges after state and federal investigators say they used a 7-year-old child to produce pornographic pictures and video.
Officials said Richard Hastings, 21, took sexually explicit photographs of the child between July 27 and July 29, posting some on a website and emailing some an undercover police investigator in Queensland, Australia. Meanwhile, officials said, Hastings' 18-year-old brother, Robert, produced a sexually explicit video of the same child on Aug. 2.
Federal agents were at the Hastings’ home on Yates Road this morning. They removed computers from the residence after executing a warrant.
Each of the brothers was charged today with production of child pornography, which officials said carries a mandatory sentence of 15 to 30 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000. They appeared today in federal court and were remanded to jail, with a detention hearing scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday.
This case is being investigated by the federal Department of Homeland Security and the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
