Bombers considers franchise in downtown Saratoga Springs

The next Bombers Burrito Bar location could be in downtown Saratoga Springs.

The next Bombers Burrito Bar location could be in downtown Saratoga Springs.

Bombers owner Matt Baumgartner said he met Thursday with an interested party about opening a franchise on Caroline Street. He currently runs Bombers locations in Schenectady and Albany, and the first franchise location opened this summer in Troy.

A location in Saratoga Springs is something Baumgartner has been interested in, but the distance from his home in Albany deterred him from acting.

“I think it would be great for a franchise to open a location in Saratoga Springs,” he said.

The experience in Troy has also been very positive, which makes Baumgartner feel confident about opening another franchise.

Thursday’s meeting was the first with the interested party, whom he wouldn’t identify, and Baumgartner said it didn’t necessarily indicate a new franchise would open. He declined to say where on Caroline Street the location might be.

When opening a franchise, Baumgartner said he helps with all aspects of the project, from the design to hiring.

He noted a Bombers location doesn’t have to be in a two-story building, like the original locations in Albany and Schenectady. He said it was a coincidence they ended up in those locations.

“A big, beautiful garage loft space could work, also,” he said.

A Bombers on Caroline Street would be in direct competition with Esperanto, which is located near Broadway and is a big seller of burritos.
