Staten Island designated hitter Eric Jagielo hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Yankees a walk-off 3-2 New York-Penn League win over the Tri-City ValleyCats on Sunday at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.
Jagielo doubled in the second and fifth innings and finished 4-for-6. Two batters after his double in the fifth, Mike Ford singled him home from third for a 1-0 lead.
In the home eighth, Staten Island (23-34) took a 2-0 lead when Trent Garrison reached on a fielding error by first baseman Conrad Gregor, allowing Hector Crespo to score with two outs.
The ValleyCats (35-24) tied the game in the top of the ninth inning when Michael Martinez drove a two-run home run to left field. Gregor had singled with one out earlier in the inning.
It was the 11th home run of the season for Martinez.
The ValleyCats will host Vermont tonight at 7.
