Two replica guns were seized Sunday at the Albany International Airport after inspectors spotted them in a carry-on bag, a Transportation Security Administration spokesperson said.
The man was later allowed to board his flight, without the toy guns, officials said.
The toy guns were spotted by a TSA officer manning the X-ray machine. The TSA then contacted the Albany County Sheriff’s Department, which responded and opened the bag and determined they weren’t real.
Replica weapons are not permitted in carry-on bags and passengers are responsible for the contents of their bags. Passengers are asked to look through their bags thoroughly before coming to the airport to make sure there are no illegal or prohibited items, officials said.
There was no impact on airport operations, officials said.
