The Canajoharie man accused of robbing the Slingerlands branch of Trustco Bank has waived extradition from South Carolina and is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday night in Bethlehem Town Court, according to Bethlehem police.
Police said Victor Shear, 45, held up the bank branch on New Scotland Road at gunpoint Aug. 21 while dressed as a construction worker. He was captured Wednesday in North Myrtle Beach, S.C., and is being held pending extradition.
Shear faces felony charges of first-degree robbery and fourth-degree grand larceny, as well as other possible counts. Police said he is also being looked at as a suspect in the Jan. 23 robbery of the NBT Bank branch in Sharon Springs. The man who robbed that bank branch also was dressed as a construction worker.
A friend of Shear’s, Anthony Zumbolo, 40, of Amsterdam, was charged last week with a felony count of hindering prosecution after police said he texted Shear to tell him police were looking for him in the Trustco holdup.
