High Schools: Stock helps Lady Bills defeat Spartans

Annie Stock had 22 kills, and Jerica Holland assisted on 21 points as Johnstown knocked off defending Foothills Council volleyball champion Queensbury in four sets Wednesday.

Alyssa Nellis had a team-leading 13 digs, Morgan Catania had 10 digs and 11 assists, and Holland added six kills in the Lady Bills’ 25-19, 21-25, 25-14, 26-24 victory.

Jenna Putnam served eight aces, Katlyn Pierce delivered four kills, and Gloversville remained unbeaten with a 25-15, 25-11, 25-15 sweep of Glens Falls.

Broadalbin-Perth beat South Glens Falls, 25-10, 26-24, 25-17, behind Keyans Fariello’s eight aces and 17 digs.

Megan Ryder had seven kills for the Patriots, and Maddie Gurga contributed six kills, six assists and eight digs.

Katie Clouse piled up 47 assists and Reagan Collier-Hogan served six aces in Hudson Falls’ 25-22, 28-26, 25-16 win over Scotia-Glenville.

Lexi Estrada had 30 assists and Hannah Berning had six assists for the Tartans.

Kimberly Jeans served for 17 points including five aces, and also collected 19 assists, in Loudonville Christian’s 25-9, 25-19, 25-15 Central Hudson Valley League win over Hawthorne Valley.

Boys’ volleyball

Austin Nydegger had nine kills, Sam Pelton had seven kills and Cody Pearce totaled 17 assists to lift Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake over Shenendehowa, 25-12, 25-20, 25-20, in a Suburban Council match.

Logan Suigitian paced the Plainsmen with nine kills and nine assists, and Scott Grable had seven kills. Both teams are 3-1 in the league.

Nick Donoato and Zack Lasky had six kills apiece in Colonie’s 25-20, 15-25, 25-19, 25-13 win over Guilderland. Marc DuMoulin sparked the Dutchmen with nine kills and six blocks.

Liam Stewart worked for 14 kills and 10 blocks, and Luc Cianfrani had 25 assists to propel Saratoga Springs past Shaker, 21-25, 13-25, 28-26, 25-21, 25-23. Jarrod Parowar and Colin McClean had 19 and 13 kills, respectively, for the Blue Bison.

Numerous contests across Section II were postponed Wednesday due to extreme heat.

Girls’ soccer

Jenna Retell scored two goals, and Gigi Flint, Morgan Burchhardt and Meghan Malone all added one as Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake beat Ballston Spa, 5-1, in a Suburban Council girls’ soccer game played Tuesday,

Retell also had an assist, and Kylee Babcock set up two goals as the Lady Spartans picked up their first win of the season.
