Markovits joins Continuum as senior VP

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Continuum Wealth Advisors LLC has announced the addition of Stephen R. Markovits as senior vice president responsible for advanced tax and retirement planning.

Markovits works with clients to find effective solutions to tax issues related to their business, professional practice or personal retirement plans.

With his experience as a practicing tax attorney, Steve has handled sophisticated tax matters such as family partnerships, corporate reorganizations, charitable trusts, family foundations and IRS audits. He is considered an expert in estate and retirement planning, especially in tax-efficient strategies involving qualified plans, as well as the use of life insurance in estate planning.

In addition, Markovits has worked extensively with business owners and professionals — particularly physicians — in the area of asset protection, helping to properly and legally position client assets beyond the reach of creditors.

Williams promoted by Farm Bureau

ALBANY — The New York Farm Bureau has announced that Jeff Williams will be promoted to director of public policy, overseeing the organization’s legislative efforts in Albany and Washington.

Williams has been with the farm bureau for more than a decade, most recently as the public policy department’s deputy director and manager of governmental relations. He is principal lobbyist on environmental, business and energy issues.

Williams previously worked for the state Senate, where he handled similar policy issues for a number of senators.

Eggleston joins Mannix Marketing

GLENS FALLS — Mannix Marketing Inc. has hired Saratoga native Laura Eggleston as a programmer.

Eggleston graduated from DeVry University in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, specializing in design, development and programming.

After a brief stint in Silicon Valley, Eggleston now lives in Wilton, continuing her passion for learning. Since the age of 10, Eggleston was self-taught, from basic HTML and early CSS to computer hardware and programming, before going to college to refine her skills.
