Football roundup: DeNicola's TD gives Mohon first win

Quarterback Nick DeNicola broke loose for a 53-yard run in the fourth quarter to spark Mohonasen ove

ROTTERDAM — Quarterback Nick DeNicola broke loose for a 53-yard run in the fourth quarter to spark Mohonasen over South Glens Falls, 13-12, in a Class A crossover game Friday night.

It was the first win of the season for the 1-3 Mighty Warriors. South Glens Falls slides to 0-4.

Justin Kretzler got the Mighty Warriors on the board in the opening quarter with a five-yard TD run.

The Bulldogs pulled within a point on a three-yard run by Cody Lane in the third quarter, and they took a 12-7 lead when Louie DeRidder found Pat Fish for a four-yard TD pass to start the fourth quarter.

Kretzler completed five of 10 passes for 121 yards for Mohonasen, while DeRidder was 7-for-14 for 101 yards passing for SGF.

GLOVERSVILLE — Bryan Stanavich rambled for 242 yards and scored four touchdowns to power the Rugged Rams over the Huskies in a shootout at Husky Field.

Justin Gallup completed five of 12 passes for 188 yards and two scores for Amsterdam (1-0, 3-1), which also got a 93-yard kickoff return from Hector Dias.

Asa Barnhill ran for 88 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries and also completed nine of 16 passes for 165 yards to lead the 0-2, 2-2 Huskies. David VanDenabeele scored on a 23-yard run, Dante Galster ran for two scores, and Quantel McGee returned a kickoff 85 yards for another Huskies’ TD.

TROY — Maurice Jones and Rayshawn Johnson each scored a pair of touchdowns, and Troy’s defense recorded four sacks and an interception in a big win over the Golden Griffins.

One of Johnson’s scores was on a 95-yard kickoff return.

Troy is now 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the Southeast Division. Maginn falls to 1-1 and 2-2.

ALBANY — Elliott Croskey ran for 137 yards and scored three touchdowns to power the Brothers over the Blue Streaks in a key Empire Division game.

CBA improves to 3-1, while the Blue Streaks also fall to 3-1 after suffering their first loss.

Alex Koshgarian caught a 40-yard TD pass, and Jaylen McIntyre returned a kickoff 95 yards for the Brothers.

Saratoga was led by Dakota Harvey, who ran for a pair of touchdowns. Jake Eglintine connected on a 23-yard TD pass to Jake Willcox.

EAST GREENBUSH — The Garnet Raiders’ rushing attack piled up 313 yards, including 165 from Devon Edwards, to subdue the Blue Devils.

Edwards scored one touchdown and tossed another for the 2-0, 3-1 Garnet Raiders. Eugene Reyes caught a 13-yard TD pass, Kevon Johnson hauled in a 37-yard TD strike, and Khyan Gaddy and Wayne Burt added scoring runs.

The only score for Columbia (1-2, 1-3) was by Connor Kinzelmann on a 36-yard run.

Brendan Marra caught two touchdown passes and recovered a blocked kick for another score to lead the Plainsmen, who got nearly 300 yards rushing from Jeremiah Smith, Matt Taft and Oliver Robinson.

DELMAR — Mike Graves scored two touchdowns, and Dan Rob­eson recovered a fumble in the end zone to help the Eagles beat the Scotties.

Graves finished with 86 yards rushing on 22 carries. He scored on a one-yard run in the opening quarter, when the Eagles also picked up a safety, and he added a one-yard run in the third quarter.

Nick Crisorio threw a 51-yard TD pass to Ben Zonka, and Spencer Kerrigan added a 27-yard field goal for the Eagles (1-3), who picked up their first win of the season.

Sam Groves caught a 15-yard TD strike from Luke Kavanaugh, and Matt Hommel scored on a 16-yard run for the 0-4 Scotties.

Micaiah Henningham scored three touchdowns, and Frank Gallo added a quarterback sneak for the Dutchmen. Deven Koehler scored a touchdown for Shaker to send the game into OT.

Quarterback Seth Billington threw for a score and ran for another, rattling off 123 ground yards on 22 carries.

Schuylerville (1-3 West, 1-3 overall) got 145 yards and two touchdowns from Will Griffen on 22 carries.

Stillwater (2-1 North, 2-2 overall) got a pair of rushing touchdowns from Hunter Lape.
