QUEENSBURY 28,

BH-BL 27

QUEENSBURY — Tim Voorhis scored two rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter, and a Burnt Hills PAT that would have tied the game with 67 seconds left banged off the upright as Queensbury knocked off the reigning state champions.

The loss was the first since Game 1 of the 2012 season for Burnt Hills (1-1 Northwest Division, 3-1 overall) and left Queensbury (2-0, 4-0), which beat Troy earlier in the season, as the only unbeaten Class A team.

Josh Quesada scored on a punt return and a short run to put Burnt Hills ahead, 21-13, in the third period.

Queensbury pulled into a tie when Brett Rodriguez threw an option TD pass to Kody Bruno, then ran for the two-point conversion.

Voorhis’ first touchdown was followed by Aidan Switzer’s conversion run, and Zoran Morrell added the PAT after Voorhis’ second touchdown as Queensbury took a 28-21 lead.

Burnt Hills came back with a touchdown from JV call-up John Clayton to Packy Brown, but Clayton’s PAT hit the upright.

The ensuing onside kick went out of bounds, and Queensbury was able to run out the clock.
