Boys' soccer: Fingar leads Tartans to 5-2 victory

Owen Fingar scored twice for Scotia-Glenville, and the Tartans pulled away from Hudson Falls in the second half to take a 5-2 Foothills Council boys’ soccer win Tuesday.

Ian Flaherty had a goal and an assist for the Tartans (6-3-0 Foothills). Other goals came from Cameron DeLong and Peter Marola.

Hudson Falls (2-7-0 Foothills) got its goals from Leonard Kilmartin and Will Knapp.

The Tartans remain two games behind Queensbury and South Glens Falls in the league standings.

The Spartans (8-1-0 Foothills) eked out a 2-1 win over Glens Falls (1-7-0 Foothills), getting the winner from Liam Mulshine with 10 seconds left in regulation, converting a pass from the top of the box by Preston Hendrick. Jayson Mullen scored for Queensbury in the first half, and the Indians drew even after the break on Sean Hooker’s goal. Patrick Resse made four saves for Glens Falls.

South Glens Falls (8-1-0 Foothills) booked its eighth consecutive shutout, 5-0, over Johnstown (1-8-0 Foothills). Alex Potter scored three times, and both Teddy Brushini and Cody Kostrzebski scored once, with Brushini adding an assist. Andy Camarra had 10 saves for Johnstown.

Broadalbin-Perth improved to 7-2-0 and 9-2-0 with a 4-1 win over Gloversville. Logan Ackley scored twice, while Ryan Dingman and Justin Marek both added a goal.

Gloversville (2-6-0 Foothills, 2-7-0 overall) got a goal from Brendan Jablonski.

Erick Kwizera scored twice for Albany in a 2-1 Big 10 win over Amsterdam. Albany (4-1-1 Big 10) got three saves from Lucas Phayre-Gonzalez.

Amsterdam (1-3-1 Big 10) got its goal from Greyson Mullins and 12 saves from Dylan Smith.

Travis Fairlee, Tate Repscher and Lukus Becker each scored, with Repscher adding an assist, and Berne-Knox-Westerlo turned in a 3-0 Western Athletic Conference win over Mayfield.

Trevor Haack made two saves for the Bulldogs (7-1-1 WAC, 7-1-2 overall). Lucas VanNostrand made five stops for the Panthers (5-3-1 WAC).

Duanesburg got its first league win with a 5-0 victory over Sharon Springs. The Eagles (1-4-2 WAC) were led by Chris Smalls and Mikkel Roade with two goals apiece. Nick Loukides also scored. Sharon Springs fell to 0-8 in the league.

Tristian Engle scored the lone goal in Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville’s 1-0 win over Mekeel Christian Academy, assisted by Andrew Hart. Nate Trumbull made seven saves for O-E/SJ (4-3-1 WAC), and Jacob Kahler made nine stops for the Lions (2-5-1 WAC).

Saratoga Central Catholic (5-2-1 WAC) topped Middleburgh, 3-1, with goals from Michael Naughton, Keegan Murphy and Luke Spicer. Joe Schmidt made eight saves for the shutout.

Middleburgh (4-4-0 WAC) got a goal from Austin Roney and four saves from Austin Smith.

Morgan Henry, Will Vedder and Devon Brooks scored to keep Schoharie unbeaten in the WAC with a 3-1 win over Canajoharie. Justin Montione made two saves for Schoharie (8-0-1 WAC, 8-1-1 overall).

Canajoharie (2-7-1 WAC) got a goal from Jerson Vasquez and three saves from Zachary Young.

Ian Cepiel scored four goals as Stillwater beat Tamarac, 4-0, in a Wasaren League game. Mike Ferlazzo had two assists for Stillwater (4-1-1 Wasaren, 7-1-1 overall) and Travis Rose made five saves for the shutout. Tamarac (2-5-0, 3-6-0) got seven saves from Brad McMurty.

Schuylerville got two goals from Max Comer in a 6-0 win over Cambridge. The Horses (5-0-1 Wasaren) also got a goal and an assist from Patrick Castle. Cambridge fell to 0-6-0 in the Wasaren.

Hoosic Valley shut out Greenwich, 4-0, with a pair of goals from Justin Akin. The Indians are 4-2-1 in the Wasaren, and the Witches are 0-6-0.
