Soccer roundup: Mohonasen boys end five-game losing streak

Connor DeSantis flicked a Bailey Petrocci shot into the Averill Park goal midway through the second half to gave Mohonasen a 2-1 win over the Warriors in a Suburban Council boys’ soccer game Thursday.

DeSantis’ goal came five minutes after Owen Nuss tied the game for Averill Park, and helped Mohon­asen snap a five-game losing streak in which the Mighty Warriors failed to score a goal.

Paul Egan snapped the scoreless streak midway through the first half for 2-8-1 Mohonasen.

Christian Koudal, Leo Rabiu and Eric Haarer came up with goals as 8-2-1 Niskayuna beat Saratoga Springs, 3-0, for its third straight shutout win.

Kyle Clemens scored off a Phil Barrett assist in the second half, giving Shenendehowa (8-2-1) a 1-0 victory over Ballston Spa, snapping the Scotties’ winning streak at three games.

Connor O’Brian’s corner kicks set up goals from Chris Czekay and Jack Hanlon as Guilderland beat Bethlehem, 2-1, for its seventh straight win. The 9-2-0 Dutchmen lead the SC South. Matt Henning scored the goal for 8-3-0 Beth­lehem.

Shaker spotted Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake a 1-0 lead on a Luke Cameron goal before posting a 3-1 win. Danny Brant, Kevin Lindsey and Brett Gaughan had the goals for the 8-2-0 Blue Bison, winners of six of seven.

Burnt Hills fell to 5-6-1.

Eldon Barhollari scored a pair of goals as Colonie topped Columbia, 4-1.

A.J. Boyd, Isaiah Hanson and Sean Dory scored goals, and Josh Rasmussen made three saves as Troy stopped Schenectady, 3-0, in the Big 10.

Alex Frost and Nick O’Brien scored goals in the final four minutes of regulation, giving CBA a 4-3 win over Amsterdam.

Jared Gallup had all three goals for the Rams.

Austin Famiglietti had both goals as Broadalbin-Perth beat Scotia-Glenville, 2-0, in the Foothills Council.

It was the first time in 12 games between the 8-2-0, 10-2-0 Patriots and 6-4-0, 6-5-0 Tartans that the final margin was more than one goal.

Johnstown snapped a goalless, five-game losing streak in the Foothills by beating Glens Falls, 2-1, as Austin Vogel scored in the first OT.

Austin Heroth of the Sir Bills and Logan Kunst of Glens Falls had the other goals.

Foothills co-leaders Queensbury and South Glens Falls both went to 9-1-0 in league play.

Queensbury got goals from Liam Mulshine, Cole Crotty, Chris Goodemote and Eddie Gardner in a 4-0 victory over Gloversville.

South Glens Falls posted its ninth consecutive shutout win, beating Hudson Falls, 3-0.

Christian Van Avery scored three goals as Fonda-Fultonville beat Watervliet, 4-1, to break a seven-game losing streak in the Colonial Council.

Ichabod Crane remained perfect in the Colonial, topping Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk, 2-0, on goals from Heriberto Gomez and Alex Niemann. The 6-5-0 Indians saw their winning streak end at four games.

Nick Cioffi and Luke Fane both had a goal and assist as Lansingburgh topped Mechanicville, 4-1. Eric Krasuski scored for Mechanicville.

Quintin Cahrenger scored off an Andrew McCarthy corner kick 17 minutes in as Waterford-Halfmoon beat Germantown, 1-0, in the Central Hudson Valley League.

Anthony Burris made 11 saves for the 8-0-0 first-place Fordians.

Mohonasen snaps slide

Gabby Esposito and Alexis Dean scored goals, and Saeeda Abdul-Aziz made five saves as Mohonasen ended a nine-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over Averill Park.

The Lady Warriors had gone seven games without scoring a goal.

Erin Petrillose and Haley Schultz had a combined 14 saves as Burnt Hills played Shaker to a 0-0 tie. The 6-5-1 Lady Spartans forced Shaker goalie Julie Maloney to make 17 saves.

Meghan Doyle’s goal at 64:36 held up as 10-2-0 Niskayuna got past 5-5-1 Saratoga, 2-1.

Rachel Walsh gave Niskayuna a lead before Lauren St. Peter headed home a Emily Wickert corner kick for Saratoga.

Katie Benson knocked home a penalty kick in overtime, giving Shenendehowa (9-1-1) a 1-0 win over Ballston Spa. Alexa Reilly turned in an outstanding game in goal for Ballston Spa.

Rebecca Golderman, Sara Kogelmann and Lauren Kogelmann all had a goal as Guilderland bested Bethlehem. 3-1. The win was the eighth straight for 11-1-0 Guilderland. Lindsey Woller scored for the 5-6-0 Lady Eagles.

Madison Purcell and Alexis Riffelbach both had a goal and an assist as unbeaten Catholic Central topped Troy, 7-2, in the Big 10.

Nisa Cortes scored three goals and assisted on a Italia Marruso goal as Schenectady beat Mayfield, 5-3, in a non-league game.

Mackenzie Bowie scored off a Keara LaFountain assist to get Mechanicville past Lansingburgh, 1-0, in the Colonial Council. Kim Thompson made 11 saves for 8-4-0 Mechanicville.

Natalie Ricci had the goal as Cohoes bested Holy Names, 1-0.

Kaylee Maldonado and Shelby Dugan got goals as Watervliet edged Fonda-Fultonville, 2-1, in another Colonial game.

Cassandra Egelston scored for the Lady Braves.

Gabrielle Capobianco and Jordyn Russell had the goals as Schuylerville nipped Stillwater, 2-1, to get to 9-0-0 in the Wasaren League.

Alexis Lockrow scored for Stillwater.

Hoosick Falls got two goals from both Rachel Pine and Jordyn Haynes in beating Tamarac, 4-1; and Madison Eddy and Sydney Fitzpatrick both had two goals as Hoosic Valley blanked Granville, 9-0, in other Wasaren games.
