Cory Lais served 10 aces, and Miranda Nethaway delivered 10 kills as Fonda-Fultonville swept Hoosic Valley, 25-13, 25-19, 25-22, in a Section II Class C first-round match.

Kerrigan McCaslin has six aces and topped the Braves (13-4) with 20 service points and 14 assists. Lais had 12 points and six kills.

Fonda-Fultonville will play at defending champion Voorheesville Friday, when quarterfinals in all five classes are contested.

Kasey Hannay had 10 kills and nine digs, and Loudonville Christian (14-2) posted a 25-10, 25-17, 25-15 Class C victory over Mechanicville.

Kimberly Jeans had 16 points and nine assists for Loudonville, and Ashley West had four kills. Taylor Hines had five kills for Mechanicville, and Paige Phelan served four aces.

Ichabod Crane (8-9) got eight aces and seven digs from Sarah Quinn-Dempsey in a 25-12, 25-14, 25-20 Class B win over Emma Willard.

Kim Myers had six kills, and Brooke Morgan had 10 assists for Ichabod Crane, which goes to defending champion Johnstown for a quarterfinal test. Katie Yan had six kills and 11 digs for the Jesters (9-9), Shannon Gill had five kills and four aces, and CeCe Porter had three aces and eight assists.

“The girls played really well tonight,” said Riders coach Adam Vooris. “We have been working on some things in practice, and they executed during the game.”

Emma Stortecky piled up 19 kills to go with 14 service points, Shyanna Logan had 13 kills and 15 points and Canajoharie outlasted Western Athletic Conference riv-al Duanesburg, 25-14, 17-25, 25-20, 24-26, 25-20, in a Class D opener.

Shelby Mead had nine kills for the Cougars, Abbey Dearwester had seven kills and 21 assists, Frankie Nare also had seven kills, and Gracie Adams and Ashley Darling both contributed four aces and 14 points.

The Section II Class A boys’ tournament begins tonight with quarterfinals at Bethlehem, Shenendehowa, Colonie and Shaker. Bethlehem is the three-time defending champion.
