Falivena joins Saratoga Hospital as vice president

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Saratoga Hospital recently welcomed Dr. Richard Falivena as vice president and chief medical and physician integration officer.

Prior to joining Saratoga Hospital, Falivena worked at Cape Regional Medical Center in Cape May Court House, N.J., where he served as vice president of medical affairs and president of Cape Regional Physicians Associates.

His medical career includes 15 years as a general surgeon on Long Island. For the last five of those years, Falivena served as chairman of the Department of Surgery at Massapequa General Hospital. He also has served as chief medical officer of Brunswick Medical Center in Amityville.

Falivena has a bachelor’s degree from Alfred University, a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Iowa, and a master of public health degree in healthcare administration from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University in New York. He is a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons.

Sunmark welcomes Fortney as manager

COLONIE — Cassie Fortney has been hired as assistant compliance manager for the Risk Management Department at Sunmark Federal Credit Union.

Fortney’s responsibilities include maintaining a current, formal and adequate compliance program, facilitating credit union compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act, supervising and providing back up for quality control mortgage processors, serving as a member of the mini-disaster assessment team, assisting with annual IRS reporting and facilitating compliance with third party due diligence.

Fortney has a bachelor of science degree from Binghamton University, an advanced certificate of study from the Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade in Shanghai, China, a master of business administration degree from Sage Graduate School of Management in Troy and is working toward a certificate in nonprofit management from the University at Albany.

Fortney is a resident of Albany.
