A Milton man allegedly held a woman captive for hours in a remote location this summer.
Ryan Place, 27, was indicted Wednesday on felony kidnapping and grand larceny charges for allegedly restraining a woman he knew from a prior relationship, then stealing her car, said Saratoga County District Attorney James A. Murphy III.
Murphy said Place and the victim had ended their relationship a long time before, but he was still trying to rekindle things. He allegedly convinced the victim to meet him in a remote location in the town of Saratoga late on the evening of July 21, but, Murphy said, the conversation didn’t go as he expected and Place tied her up.
After a few hours, the woman was able to convince Place to let her go, Murphy said, and she was able to escape. Place then allegedly stole the victim’s car and related items.
According to the indictment, he was arrested eight days later by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.
Place, who was on parole for a prior felony conviction at the time of the incident, is in the Saratoga County jail on a parole hold and because of these new charges.
The indictment included second-degree kidnapping, a Class B felony, second-degree kidnapping, a C felony, second-degree assault, a D felony, third-degree assault, an A misdemeanor, fourth-degree grand larceny, an E felony, two counts of petit larceny, an A misdemeanor, third-degree attempted assault, a violation, second-degree harassment, a violation, and two counts of aggravated harassment, an A misdemeanor.
