The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake girls’ team continued its championship form and will return to the state final four once again after claiming its 12th straight regional championship Saturday at Cicero-North Syracuse.
The Spartans stopped Oswego of Section III, 25-13, 25-15, 25-17 and improved to 25-4.
Jessica Dillon produced 35 assists and six kills for BH-BL, while Natalie Schurman and Katherine Schurman combined for 19 kills and 21 digs. Jaleah Owens contributed eight kills and three blocks.
The Spartans begin pool play Saturday morning at 8:30 at Glens Falls Civic Center.
Shenendehowa lost to Baldwinsville of Section III, 25-13, 25-21, 25-20, in the Class AA regionals.
Shenendehowa, which won its fourth straight Section II title, slides to 18-4 overall. Taylor Murphy led Shen with five kills and two blocks. Michelle Paulsen posted three kills and six blocks, while Hayley Macken added 18 assists.
In the Class B regionals, Johns-town rallied past Beekmantown of Section VII, 18-25, 25-23, 25-11, 25-20. The Lady Bills advanced to the final four with a 17-1 record.
Annie Stock led the Lady Bills with 18 kills and 23 digs. Alyssa Nellis had seven kills, 11 blocks and 17 digs, while Brianne O’Rourke chipped in with four kills and 13 blocks.
Jerica Holland and Morgan Catania combined for 35 assists and 16 digs.
Undefeated Voorheesville defeated AuSable Valley, 25-20, 25-16, 25-8, for the Class C regional crown.
The Blackbirds, now 20-0, are going to the state tournament for the fourth straight year.
Caroline Bablin’s 18 kills and 10 digs led the Blackbirds, who also got 13 service points and 26 assist from Libby Bjork, 10 service points and seven digs from Erin Gannon and seven kills and 17 digs from Tori Hargrave.
In Class D regional competition, Waterford-Halfmoon stopped Chateaugay, 25-18, 25-19, 25-18, to improve to 17-2.
The Fordians were making their first regional appearance. Chateaugay lost for the first time in 22 decisions.
Michaela Miller posted 10 kills and five digs, while Carly Howe added 10 kills and five blocks.
Erin Formosa (five kills, four blocks) and Emily Jones (29 assists) also contributed for Waterford-Halfmoon.
Boys: BH-BL wins
Burnt Hills-Ballstson Lake’s boys’ team also will pay a visit to the Glens Falls Civic Center following a 25-20, 25-15, 25-10 regional win over Jamesville-DeWitt in the Division II regionals.
The Spartans improved to 21-3. Dan Symer, Sam Pelton, Austin Nydegger and Riley Hynes combined for 26 kills, while Cody Pearce contributed 31 assists for BH-BL.
