KINGSTON — Brett Rodriguez ran for three touchdowns, and Mitch Crispin broke up a late two-point pass attempt to help Queensbury get past Cornwall, 36-27, in a state Class A semifinal football game Friday night at Dietz Stadium.
Moiset Santos scored on a three-yard run for Cornwall with 3:15 left, and Crispin defended a follow-up pass to keep the Spartans ahead, 28-27. Kody Bruno recovered an onside kick moments later, and raced 46 yards for an insurance touchdown.
Rodriguez went 59 yards for one of his touchdowns and added a pair of two-point runs for the state’s No. 1-ranked team.
Queensbury (12-0) will take on Williamsville North (Section VI, 9-3) in Friday’s state title game at 3 at the Syracuse Carrier Dome. Williamsville North defeated Union-Endicott (Section IV, 8-4) in the other state semifinal, 27-14.
Queensbury reached state championship contests in 1997 and 1998, and lost both times.
Cornwall (Section IX, 10-2) had lost to Burnt Hills in 2009, 2011 and 2012 state semifinal games. Cornwall’s star quarterback, Mike White, had a pair of first-half touchdown passes before leaving the game with an elbow injury.

ITHACA — Ballston Spa senior Addison Walkowiak won her second diving title in three years at the state swimming and diving championships at Ithaca College.
Walkowiak totaled 494.30 points on her 11 dives to beat out Alya Bonniwell of Ithaca (478.40).
In Friday’s swimming preliminaries, Julia Samson of Shenendehowa placed second in the 200-yard individual medley and fifth in the 100 butterfly, Olivia Jack of Scotia-Glenville was sixth in the 100 breaststroke, and Niskayuna was sixth in 400 freestyle relay.
Shenendehowa’s Section II record-holding 200 medley relay group was disqualified. Shenendehowa was seeded No. 1 entering the meet.
