A veterinarian practicing in Johnstown is facing felony forgery charges for allegedly getting drugs

A veterinarian practicing in Johnstown is facing felony forgery charges for allegedly getting drugs for her boyfriend by writing prescriptions for non-existent animals.

The State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Fonda arrested Amy French, 42, of Cherry Valley on Nov. 9. The forgery charge comes after a two-month investigation.

According to information released Monday by the State Police, French wrote at least one prescription indicating it was for an animal when in fact she intended it for her now-estranged boyfriend.

No further information on the type of medication allegedly involved was released.

French was initially issued an appearance ticket at the time of arrest and appeared in court for the charges Nov. 20.
