Siena went on a late 7-0 run to reclaim a six-point lead and held on in the waning seconds to beat Buffalo, 64-60, in a women’s non-conference basketball game Saturday at the ARC.

Sophomore Symone Kelly scored all of her career-high 14 points in the second half, rallying the Saints back from a 13-point deficit.

Kelly shot 7-for-9 from the field in the final stanza and added six rebounds, spurring Siena’s (4-3) second unit, which totaled 44 of the team’s 64 points. Freshman Brianna Logan added a career-high 11 points and classmate Emia Willingham, from Albany High School, reached double figures for a third straight game off the bench with 10.

Kanika Cummings drilled her only field goal of the game – a desperation three as the shot clock expired – capping the 7-0 lead-changing run that put Siena up for good, 61-55, with 32 seconds remaining.

Buffalo (5-3) answered with a three of their own and scored following a steal on the ensuing inbounds. But Siena, which converted on just 10 of its 23 foul shots, got three out of four from senior Ciara Stewart in the waning seconds to secure the win.

Siena’s youth, led by the likes of Kelly, Logan and Willingham, energized the Saints to rally back from an early hole. Buffalo scored the first nine points of the game, holding Siena scoreless for the first five and a half minutes.

The Saints battled back to within a point, but the Bulls responded with a late 12-0 run and took a 10-point lead, 35-25, at the half.

Kristen Sharkey led Buffalo with 23 points on 10-for-12 shooting. Mackenize Loesing, Buffalo’s leading scorer at 18.4 points per game, managed a quiet 10 points in just 16 minutes before fouling out.
