Police lodged felony drug sale charges against five people following a six-month investigation into the sale of heroin, prescription drugs and an addiction treatment drug in Montgomery County.
State police, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, St. Johnsville police and the Amsterdam Police department were all involved in the probe, according to a release issued Thursday by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s department.
The following individuals were charged with felony third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance: Antonio Aponte, 38, and Monica Bonet, 33, both of of 373 Locust Ave., Amsterdam; Scott B Dunbar, 33, currently in the Montgomery County Jail; Scott M. Lathers, 38, of 6316 State Route 10, Canajoharie; Joshua Leach, 30, of 6 Chestnut St., Amsterdam; and Joseph T. Palmeri, 30, of 432 Eaker Rd., Palatine.
Cara DeAraujo, 30, of 6 Chestnut St., was charged with fourth-degree conspiracy, a misdemeanor.
Police in the release said all six suspects were arraigned and sent to the Montgomery County Jail.
