A commercial printing company will expand in Glenville as it consolidates its operations across the Northeast.
Velocity Print Solutions will close a printing plant in Middlebury, Conn., and consolidate those operations at its New York location in Glenville, according to a news release issued Tuesday. A sales office will remain in Connecticut. The company also has a location in Middleton, Mass.
The company, which currently employs 70 workers at Building 705 in the Glenville park, will invest more than $300,000 to relocate and install printing equipment. It will add 15 to 20 new jobs locally over the next three years.
The Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority will provide $25,000 toward the cost of the expansion. The company is also seeking a $50,000 grant from National Grid to help offset the cost of adding electrical capacity to its current production and warehouse space, which comprises about 80,000 square feet.
“We appreciate the support of Metroplex and National Grid as we consolidate operations to our Glenville facility,” said company CEO Jim Stiles in the release. “Our location at the Glenville Business and Technology Park and our dedicated employees allow us to provide quality printing solutions to customers throughout the Northeastern United States.”
Velocity Print Solutions offers a full suite of digital and lithographic printing and marketing services, including print, mailing, distribution and fulfillment. It prints everything from note cards and spiral-bound manuscripts to thick annual reports and 40-inch display boards.
“We are excited that Velocity has committed to grow their company here in Schenectady County bringing new jobs to our community,” said Marty Finn, chair of the county Legislature’s Economic Development and Planning Committee. “We thank them for investing in Schenectady County and the Glenville Business and Technology Park, and look forward to their continued growth and success in our community.”
