Edward Shaw had Christmas spirit.
The Huron Street resident also had access to a horse, sleigh and a Santa Claus outfit.
Shaw put them all together on Christmas Eve in 1947, and entertained people in his neighborhood. Any children peering out windows probably rushed to their bedrooms and dove under the blankets, truly convinced St. Nick was ready for local chimney descents.
The Schenectady Gazette photo of Shaw, his sleigh and Christmas snow is one of Capital Region Scrapbook’s favorite holiday photos. Over the past dozen or so years, the Scrapbook has printed bunches of photos with Christmas themes. In this morning’s edition, we’re running some of our favorites from past holiday seasons.
There are photos of children with Santa, kids with favorite toys and even a young girl with a favorite newspaper. We’ve got William Flynn on the Christmas beat for the Schenectady Police Department, Jim Wilson on the holiday decoration beat for Wallace’s Department Store and Lois Miller and her friends on the doll beauty beat.
They’re all part of a Scrapbook season’s greetings to readers.
