Colonie police seek public's help in solving two robberies

Colonie police need the public’s help in solving two store robberies this month that may be related.

Colonie police need the public’s help in solving two store robberies this month that may be related.

The first robbery happened Dec. 8 at the Cumberland Farms, 1093 Loudon Road. In that heist, the suspect walked in holding what appeared to be a black handgun. He then demanded money and fled with an unknown amount of cash.

The suspect was described as a white male, 5 feet, 9 inches or 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighing between 170 and 180 pounds.

He wore a blue hooded sweatshirt with white writing on the back, “Out Wit It.” The writing appeared in large letters on the front, with each word on its own line. There was also two smaller lines of text underneath.

Police Monday released surveillance footage of the suspect, hoping the public might recognize the unique logo on the sweatshirt.

The suspect also wore tan or khaki pants, a gray wool knit hat and gray fleece material covering a portion of his face.

Then, on Dec. 19, the Citgo station at 60 Fuller Road was robbed. The description of that suspect is similar to the Cumberland Farms suspect and could possibly be related.

However, police on Monday said they cannot conclusively determine if the two robberies were committed by the same suspect.

In the second heist, the suspect also entered the store with what appeared to be a black handgun, then demanded money. He fled with an undetermined amount of cash.

That suspect was described as a white male, in his early 20s. He was 5 feet, 6 inches or 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighed about 140 pounds.

He wore a dark hat and fled south on Fuller Road in a newer model, dark colored four-door sedan, possibly a green Honda Accord.

Anyone with information about either robbery is asked to contact the Colonie Police Department at 783-2744.
