Police are asking residents to keep an eye on their neighbors’ homes following several attempted burglaries this week.

Saratoga police Lt. Robert H. Jillson said investigators started canvassing the Pinewood Avenue neighborhood Thursday night after a report of a burglary. Jillson said one home, which was unoccupied at the time, was broken into and three others showed evidence somebody tried unsuccessfully to break in.

An investigation was continuing Friday night, he said.

Jillson said while residents take advantage of the holiday season to visit relatives, thieves take advantage of people’s absence from home.

The department is asking residents to be observant of any suspicious activity and report it to police.
