Masked men hold up gas stations in Colonie, Albany

Two men walked into a Colonie gas station Sunday night and robbed it at gunpoint, police said.

Two men walked into a Colonie gas station Sunday night and robbed it at gunpoint, police said.

Now police are looking for the two suspects, and possibly a getaway driver.

The incident happened just after 10:30 p.m. at the Sunoco Xtra Mart at 616 Broadway, police said. Two men walked in, both armed with black handguns, and demanded the clerk hand over cash and cigarettes.

The clerk did as told and the suspects fled with about $450 in cash and several cartons of cigarettes. No one was injured.

The suspects may have then gotten into a white sport utility vehicle driven by a third suspect, police said. The vehicle left the area traveling north.

Other, similar robberies took place later that night in Troy and Albany, police said. Police were investigating whether they are connected.

In Albany, two men with similar descriptions robbed the Sunoco station at 351 Southern Blvd. around midnight.

The men entered with what appeared to be a handgun and demanded and received cash, then fled. No injuries were reported.

Both suspects in the Albany robbery were described as about 6 feet tall and wore masks.

The first suspect in the Colonie heist is described as a 6-foot-tall man wearing a black bandana over his face. He had black pants, black shoes and a grey hooded sweatshirt. The second suspect is described as shorter than the first suspect, wearing a black ski mask, black pants, black sneakers and black hooded sweatshirt.

Police had no description of the driver, other than he is believed to have been male.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Colonie Police Department at 783-2744 or Albany police detectives at 462-8039.
