The man accused of using a knife to attack another man Thursday morning at the Union Inn chased the victim and cut him, authorities said.

Cory Daniel, 27, of 517 Union St., is also accused of struggling with officers at the police station and attacking another man last month at a bar on Broadway.

Daniel was arrested Thursday morning at the Union Inn, accused of using a knife to cut someone inside the bar, which was closed at the time. The victim was found by police nearby on Clinton Street with non-life-threatening injuries.

Daniel was arraigned Friday morning and ordered held on $20,000 bail. He denies the charges, his attorney, James Walsh, said.

According to court papers, Daniel chased the man and cut him in the right arm and finger. The victim was taken to Ellis Hospital.

Walsh contended Friday his client did not inflict the wounds, but that they were self-inflicted. Daniel is the son of the bar’s owner and lives above the bar, Walsh said.

Daniel faces one count each of second-degree assault, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor. Daniel’s name is also spelled in papers as Cory Daniels.

Police pulled Daniel out of the bar and took him to the station for questioning after the incident. At the station, he is accused of struggling with officers, refusing to sit in an interview room and tensing up so he couldn’t be made to sit. He is also accused of kicking officers, including trying to kick one officer in the groin.

For those accusations, Daniel faces one count each of obstructing governmental administration, a misdemeanor. and harassment, a violation.

Filed along with the other charges was a misdemeanor third-degree assault count for an alleged attack Dec. 11 at DeLorey’s Tavern, 2518 Broadway. In that incident, Daniel is accused of head-butting a man, knocking him to the floor and then repeatedly punching and kicking him in the head and upper body.

The man was treated at Ellis Hospital for a possible concussion, according to papers, and suffers severe headaches.

Daniel remained in the Schenectady County jail Friday afternoon.
