A 19-year-old Schenectady man faces charges, accused of committing sex act with a child under the age of 15 and taking that child to New York City for two weeks, authorities said.

Daniel Harrichan, 19, of Pennsylvania Avenue, was charged Monday with one count of second-degree criminal sex act, a felony, along with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

Harrichan is accused of committing the sex act with the child between August and November in Schenectady, according to papers filed in court.

Harrichan is also accused of taking the child by bus to New York City for two weeks in early November, with the child being a documented runaway, according to papers.

Harrichan was arrested Monday evening in Schenectady. He also faces one count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance related to that, accused of illegally possessing several prescription Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen pills, according to court papers.
