A one-car accident in the Niskayuna High School parking lot this morning sent the driver to the hospital for observation, fire officials said.
The accident happened just after 9 a.m. when the driver hit a light pole obscured by the low morning sun, Niskayuna Fire District 1 Chief Dale Lingenfelter said.
She turned into the lot, but the bright sun obscured the pole and she ran into it, Lingenfelter said. She hit the pole hard enough that her air bags went off.
The driver was not seriously injured. She was taken to Ellis Hospital as a precaution, Lingenfelter said.
The accident happened in the parking lot off Balltown Road, the one near the main entrance.
