Down eight at the half, the University at Albany women’s basketball team rallied with 52 points in the second half to surge past Stony Brook, 66-51, to remain in first place and undefeated in the America East Conference Thursday night at Pritchard Gym.

The two-time defending champion Great Danes (8-0, 18-3) have won 31 straight conference games.

“We started playing UAlbany basketball in the second half. Our press defense stepped up and led to the offense playing better,” said UAlbany head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson. “Players like Megan Craig, Tammy Phillip and Sarah Royals really stepped up when Shereesha Richards was in foul trouble.”

Craig scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for her second double-double of the year to lead four double-digit scorers for the Danes. Phillip added 12 points and eight rebounds. Richards, the league-leader in scoring and rebounding, was held to 11 points and five rebounds.
