MVP Health Care is partnering with Schenectady Greenmarket to raise awareness in the Schenectady area about healthy and local foods.
As part of the partnership, Schenectady-based MVP is donating $15,000 in annual support, which will enable the market to expand by providing on-site nutritionists and activities.
“The market has always strived to connect farm and city in a way that creates a responsible, sustainable food system and a vibrant, healthy community,” said Austin Fisher, chair of the market’s board of directors. “In MVP Health Care, we have found a partner who shares this mission and is ideally suited to work with us on this common goal.”
The partnership will boost the amount of locally grown foods available from area farmers at the market. The Schenectady Greenmarket is open every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“Our vision of building healthier communities mirrors the goals of the market," said Denise Gonick, president and CEO of MVP Health Care. "We look forward to enjoying the benefits of another successful year of bringing healthy, fresh, locally-grown food to downtown Schenectady.”
