Michelle Kwan is fitting in some time for political campaigning while she covers the Sochi Games.
The two-time Olympic figure skating medalist is asking notable names to pose for a photo holding a pin supporting her husband for governor of Rhode Island. Clay Pell, a Democrat, announced his candidacy Jan. 27.
At a skating practice Friday, Kwan snapped a photo of Olympic swimming champion Summer Sanders with the pin. Kwan is working for Fox Sports as an analyst in Sochi.
Pell is a 32-year-old Democrat who's never held elected office. He is the grandson of late U.S. Sen. Claiborne Pell, whose name is well-known because of the federal scholarship program, Pell Grants. Pell faces two Democrats in a primary, Providence Mayor Angel Taveras and state Treasurer Gina Raimondo. Two Republicans are also in the race: Cranston Mayor Allan Fung and businessman Ken Block.
Kwan won a bronze medal in the 2002 Salt Lake City Games and a silver in the 1998 Nagano Games.
