A Schenectady man faces drunken-driving charges after his vehicle was found by police stopped in a driving lane on Route 7 after having run out of gas, state police said today.
Donald J. Birch Jr., 29, was charged Feb. 5 with one count each of driving while intoxicated and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. Birch was taken to the state police barracks in Princetown for processing, troopers said, but refused all blood-alcohol tests. That led to an added charge of refusal to submit to a chemical test.
Birch was arraigned and ordered held on $500 cash bail or $2,500 bond. He posted bond Tuesday and was released.
