Two people face drunken-driving charges after separate accidents within an hour Saturday night involving state Department of Transportation plows on the Northway.
State police said the first accident occurred about 7:35 p.m. in the southbound lanes between exits 12 and 13 when a pickup truck driven by Robert J. Clemente Jr., 26, of Troy, struck the blade of a plow truck, shearing off the roof of his truck. Clemente suffered minor injuries, troopers said, and was taken to Glens Falls Hospital, where he consented to a blood test.
The unidentified plow operator was not hurt.
Clemente was charged with driving while intoxicated and released on a ticket to appear in Malta Town Court.
The second accident occurred about 8:20 p.m. in the northbound lanes between exits 11 and 12, where a car rear-ended a plow truck, according to state police. No one was injured, but the driver of the car, whose identity was not available Saturday night, was also charged with DWI.
